We bring banned and censored documentaries to Bay Area audiences with discussion — a Jimmy Lai solidarity screening, a Fang Lizhi memorial we co-organized at Stanford's Hoover Institution, the North America premiere of She Is In Jail, and four screenings of Urumqi Middle Road in support of its imprisoned director.

We record first-hand testimony of the events the official record is trying to erase, and preserve it for the future. Our current project documents a witness's experience of June 4th, 1989. This is the heart of our work — the memory that outlives the moment.

Offline forums where Chinese speakers discuss the history and politics that can't be discussed freely elsewhere — safely, in person. Recent topics: Tibet, China–Japan relations, Taiwan's election, and letters to prisoners of conscience.

Practical sessions on how to act — safely, imaginatively, and effectively — in defense of free expression, and how a scattered diaspora can organize and support one another.

Public remembrance of what authoritarian power wants forgotten: candlelight vigils for June 4th, held three years running in the Bay Area, and remembrance of the Urumqi fire and the White Paper movement.
